Best of project1979 playlist #1: Indianapolis

I have been back in the country for ten days and a blogpost is well overdue (thank you, Jessseeker for reminding me of this is your sweet way). A surprise hospital visit, a wedding (not my own), not knowing where to begin after three months of experiences, and preparing for a webseries pilot for project1979 have been slight detours. I’m back and ready to go.

What now?

Well…

There is a lot to be said, all rooted in deep gratitude for the fact that project1979 Europe happened. And it not only changed my life, it helped me to understand that there is a deep need on so many levels for us resilient 30-somethingers to connect to each other and to a greater sense of purpose, of ourselves and our  place here on this planet.

My hypothesis confirmed: we are one amazing generation!

Overwhelmed by the amount of things I would LOVE to write about, I have decided to start with music: a playlist featuring some tunes from the first project1979 in Indianapolis. It was an unbelievable opportunity to work with 19 performers from around the country in the artist-in-residency Indy Convergence.

The show began with a little Madonna:

1. HOLIDAY

There was a big debate over which songs we should include in project1979’s debut. It was a tie so we used both:

2. BUST A MOVE

3. GROOVE IS IN THE HEART

And of course had to use them for the rest of the shows this summer!

Ian, the mastermind of the 100 plus cues that went into the show, chose this Talking Heads tune:

4. LIFE DURING WARTIME

This one was used during the awkward school dance portion of the show! And I dig this video:

5. LOVE FOOL

Of course, with so many amazing dancers in the group, we created an unforgettable rendition of Irene Cara’s famous tune:

6. WHAT A FEELING

It was rad time in Indianapolis, if I do say so myself.

Enjoy! There will be more to come…Oh yes, there will.
