Wednesday Music Video Mash-up

Why not? Asked this question on the FB page for the web series pilot we’re working on:

What was your  favorite childhood/adolescent video?

Here’s a playlist brought to you directly from our lovely project1979 FB community! Enjoy 🙂 I didn’t choose them (okay, except for the last three) but love them all. Viva the MTV generation!

1. Money for Nothing (Need I say more?)

2. Take on Me (High Tech)

3. More Than Words (Who else loved that perm/long hair combo? I was sure the duo was singing for my 12-year-old self)

4. Thriller (My mom let me watch that? When I was three? Can’t be…Yet I do remember growing up with a strange and unsual awe of MJ’s powers)

5. Blame it on the Rain (Another long hair wonder…and the dramatic back!)

6. Don’t Come Around Here No More (I love this song-Hey! A bit creepy but I greatly appreciate the Alice references. Oh, Tom-you know how to class-up fog machines like no one else)

7. Land of Confusion (I don’t remember this video at all and will decidedly have nightmares tonight. Nonetheless, go Genesis for putting Reagan in spandex)

8. Somebody’s Watching Me (MJ/Rockwell enhancing the drama with moving eye graphics and shadow cut-outs…and that synthesizer…Trippy!)

9. I Would Do Anything for Love…But I Won’t Do That (The title says it all and although I never fully understood the video or why anyone would name themselves Meatloaf, my Tuesday-afternoon-Freshman-year-MTV-in-the-basement-with-Cheetos-watching self appreciated the theatrical effects of this high-intensity work of art.

10. Cold Hearted (I felt so naughty watching this video. Quite risque for 1989, Miz Paula!)

11. Smells Like Teen Spirit (Just plain amazing)

P.S. Because I couldn’t resist…
